Does the Book of Revelation treat Christians like children with a threat of their angry father coming home?

Remember what it was like when you were kid on school holidays, bickering with your siblings and driving your poor mother nearly mad? She would say, "You kids wait till your father gets home!" The father was the bringer of justice; judge, jury and executioner all in one figure. This same tactic is what Christians are doing with the Book of Revelation, right? "You just wait till Jesus returns! Oh, you're going to cop it!"
