Wedding Guest List....Who has the final say of the guest list?

My husband and I paid for 90% of our wedding so I think we had final say for everything but you kind of have to respect that if they are the ones paying they may decide to go all crazy on you and cut the budget if you don't invite them. Frankly, I would stand up to your mother in law and say that you will invite them because they are important to her but if one snide comment is made or anything they say or do makes your special day uncomfortable they will be asked to leave. No one wants tension at their wedding, no matter if it comes from the mother in law or a guest. It is your wedding and trying to make everyone happy is never going to happen but you shouldn't be the one to suffer. So just talk to her about it and say that you aren't comfortable with them being there but since it is important to her they will be invited. And if so much as one comment to your family or you is made send them on their merry little way. No one should ever be put down because of their religion and isn't one of the biggest things in religions that you don't judge people? You are taking the high road by not reciprocating the negativity but if they do it again, so help you GOD, get them out of there!! :)
