What does it mean when a married guy you just met tells you about his vasectomy?

Ok, So I went to a birthday party today for one of my daughters cl mates and I ended up talking to the birthday boys parents. when his wife walks off we were talking and everything was fine and then I asked how old their little boy was and he told me and then he started telling me that he was the last baby they would have because he had gotten that little problem fixed. I have never met these people and they seem nice and all but I would feel weird if my husband were just giving out this information to random girls. Am I just reading to much into this or does it mean something for him to say this to me or am I the weird one for thinking that it is weird to share that kind of personal info. There should be a handbook on what a guys really mean when they say things! LOL
