What does the 5th amendment in the U.S. Constitution mean?

Basically it is the right to a fair trial, except when you mess the military in times of service- then you to the military court system- and it is also saying that you have the right to NOT speak. Like when you ask somebody a question and they say, "I plead the 5th". It is saying that no person will be forced to confess wrongdoing or say anything that might get them into trouble, and that there will be no punishment WITHOUT a fair trial.
